I'm sure you've heard this song,

tilt your head and smile

 (shirt: asos|overalls: vintage)

so I had to take my school id photo, and basically
 ughhhh

"the absolute fact of the matter is that not a single human being on this planet looks good in their student id photo so you should probably just give up"

This is basically what those horrid photographers are actually saying when they say
"Tilt your face towards the light please! Smiiiiiiile!"

they do not care if you smile
they do not care if you tilt your face to the light
they do not care at all

they come and attack your carefully cultivated hairstyle with a little plastic comb that promptly gets stuck and/or snaps into several small pieces

they make you sit in front of the red back round even though you wanted turquoise

they tell you it looks "perfect!"

it does not look perfect

it looks like your face is having some sort of attack

but at least you end up with a really interesting id.

heheheh

xx,
Justina

stay snazzy

*sweater c.o. my mum cause she paid for the paint*

 hey y'alllll

STOP
so, for me, this is a very "normal" outfit.
simple. muted colors. no glitter.
no jump shots
It's like that for a reason: I want you to fooocus on this post, and remember it, not my outfit.

carry on.

I was asked an interesting question on tumblr yesterday
and because it was so interesting,
I wanted to write a post about it

"what makes you different from other fashion bloggers"

I had to think about it for a bit.
I mean, there's obvious stuff like
my hair

my shoes

my utterly clever and charming wit

but when it comes down to it, you can see the difference in my answer to a different question

"what's your number one piece of fashion advice?"

here it is

you ready?
Wear whatever you want, and own it.

bam

life changing

You don't need the perfect bag, or a closet full of basics

you don't need to dress just like me, or take this blog as gospel truth

(even if it is)

you need to be happy with what you wear

and sure, someone's going to judge you for it
but here's the best part: you don't have to care

It's your outfit.
Yours.

It's supposed to make you happy.

Can you imagine
if someone had told Valentino that making dresses was stupid
when he was a teenager
and he had believed them

Or if Betsey Johnson never made a tutu,
because she was worried what the popular girl at school thought

IGNORE YOUR POPULAR GIRL
SHES WEARING UGGS FOR HEAVENS SAKE
DON'T TAKE THAT GIRL'S THOUGHTS TO HEART

wear what you want.
  #besnazzy.

except if your snazzy is UGGs.
don't do that to me.

ok?

that is the difference, I think

Justina

So what do you want to know?

*shirt c/o the fab alexandra king*

I can talk about myself for ages.
I like to think I'm sort of an interesting person.
But when Grace tagged me in that "twenty facts about yourself" thing on Instagram,
I had the hardest time ever after, like, number one.

Here's what I came up with:

1:My full name is Justina Alana Athena Sharp
(this is where it started getting tricky)

3: I've been homeschooled seven years and am currently a junior in high school

4:I dressed up as Tyra Banks for career day in the third grade

5: I speak fluent English and German, and am learning Russian and French

6:I don't like waffles

7:I collect travel guides to Europe and currently have a whole shelf full

8:My favorite color is pink or sparkly

9:Before I was a fashion blogger, I spread some. serious girl power on my blog Operation Indigo

 10:I've never been surfing

11:I've been in 4-H for six years and its one of the greatest things I've ever stuck with

12:Amy Childs is my favorite celebrity

13:Even though I've never met him face to face (#internetkidprobs) I consider Nusardel one of my best fiends and could not imagine my life as it is without him

14:My favorite TV show is Sherlock and Irene Adler is Queen

15:I love photojournalism and buy loads of vintage photos at estate sales that I keep on my wall

16:I went into formal mourning for three days when Amy Winehouse died

17:I could eat peach ice cream for days

18:I love big eyeliner, and now, thanks to Kelly, I'm addicted to false eyelashes as well

18 1/2 (I can't count either):My favorite book is Around The World With Auntie Mame and I only found it because it fell out of the shelf at a thrift store and hit me in the face

19: I love doing interviews and my favorite so far has been with Laura Brown, who I'm pretty sure is a superhero, and at the very least, one of the best people I've ever had the opportunity to meet.

20: I have rapped along to Jay-Z with Maia Mitchell and
if that isn't the best thing you've heard all day
 idk what is

DO YOU SEE WHAT I AM SAYING

 "I don't like waffles"

absolutely groundbreaking
But it WAS a great way for you guys to get to know me a bit better.

Probably better than you wanted to

And now, I want to know you.

SO

twitter cooontessst

Tweet me (@bentpieceofwire) random facts about yourself, hashtagging #justinawantedtoknow

my favorites will be included as ps's in upcoming blog posts

if you don't tweet, go to instagram, upload a photo, write your fact, and hashtag it...

guess

THAT'S RIGHT

#justinawantedtoknow

because I do.

oh and

21: I once ate an entire jar of Nutella with a fork.

hardcore

Justina

Justina's Choice Thoughts From The Teen Choice Awards

Lily Collins, seriously upping the ear game.

And now for the post everyone waits for after an awards show.

1. Rebel Wilson in a wetsuit: best outfit of the night.
2. Is Chord Overstreet trying to be Matt Smith right now with that hair?
3. Palm trees are weird looking and do not belong on clothing.
 *cough* Bella Thorne *cough*
4."Stay Sexy."
5.  Hailee Steinfeld is the only celebrity I never worry about. That girl's got serious dress game.
5. When they just handed Miley that trendsetter award,
she was like "Candies who? This is Saint Laurent baby."
6. Pleather leggings work for no one Demi.
7. Even after all this time, I'm still into Hayley Williams hair color.
8. Slow clap for Lea Michele.
9. YOU CAN'T TWERK. NO.
10. Why am I not hosting this?

I found myself wishing slime were involved with this show.

splat on the onesies.

Justina

Hannah Montana Forever

I will never not love Miley Cyrus
or Laura Brown, but this is not her article

You have all been subjected to my many Hannah Montana refrences,
my love/hate/love relationship with her hair,
and if you see me on a day to day basis,
my singing "we can't stop" any time someone tells me to stop.

I just adore how she's never anyone but who she wants to be.
She does what she does, and never apologizes for doing it,
unless she feels it somehow affected someone negatively.
Even then, she apologizes for it making you feel that way, not for doing it.
That's a quality I think more people need to have.

Be who you are and say what you feel, cause somebody loves ya

miley cyrus x dr suess level zen

And she can work Valentino.

More people should be Miley Cyrus.

xx,
Justina

ps. I want a wind machine. Can you imagine?

Cali State Of Mind

 #teenvogue dress: c.o. meemee*headphones: c.o. frends*shoes:converse*bag:vintage

Welcome to my state, it's a state of mind.

Well I mean it's a physical place too with palm trees and the ocean and kardashians and all that other stuff

but it's a mindset too.

Just listen to "California Gurls", Katy Perry gets it.

Contrary to popular belief (I do moan a lot about the lack of weather) I do love living here.

even the weird looking palm trees.

When I saw the gigantic letters, I knew a post would happen.

I put on my most California outfit (daisy dukes are not a thing),
complete with converse + my FRENDS
pfft necklaces are too mainstream

and I just...chilled.

It was actually kind of funny watching people walk around me, pointing and/or whispering at
a. my hair
b. my shiny headphones
c. the fact that I was sitting underneath the A
or d. all of the above

Or maybe it was just that my brother was running back and forth taking photos of it all.

nahhh

Sitting in the sunshine made me all sappy and nostalgic about being a "cali girl"

literally the broadest term ever

I don't know if you've noticed but I'm not blonde

also, the zoom on our camera wouldn't let my brother get "California" in the photo

It's kind of cool to live in a place that has so much to offer.
Two hours away, I'm in the Bay.
 Four more, I'm in LA.
  hey that rhymed

ocean, forest, mountains, valley
all these things and more in cali

with that, I'm over it and out of lines

see you in the sunshine

xx,
Justina

I can't hear you

 headphones c.o frends

Say that again?

I would feel bad about all the things I miss listening to my music really loud
if these headphones weren't so incredibly perfect.

which they are so I don't

I mean, white leather, gold metal, AND THEY SOUND GOOD?

You don't need that new purse, you need new headphones.
I can already feel you joshing for an outfitpost with them, and that is coming,
but for one second, we are going to talk about music, also known by my parents as
"THAT RACKET"

A lot of people think fashion is just clothes.
Who's wearing what.
A pair of shoes makes or breaks you.
(I mean, we've all been broken by a pair of shoes, but not the point here)
What these people don't know is that fashion isn't just clothes, it's culture.
Music is a big part of that.
All you have to do to see that is count how many fashion references
Kanye West can drop in a three minute song.

was louis my killer what's that jacket margiela

No, actually, it's vintage but whatever Kanye

They're two worlds, and when they collide....we get chart toppers.

However, we (and by "we", I mean you, me, and the fashion industry at large) can't be listening to our life and sartorially inspiring jams on just any crummy set of tiny speakers.
I personally have always loved head phones.
the bigger, the better
I mean, just imagine locating the average set of earbuds in my hair.
exactly

there's no losing these babies, they're shiny and glamorous and the sound quality is incredible

plus, they fold into this tiny little pouch that I can stick in the pocket of my overalls

that sentence just basically summed me up

with the rise of music/fashion fusion,
I'm predicting a rush on accessories like this,
so get at it now and we'll be ahead of the trend together

friends that are on trend before the trend together stay together

now I'm off to have a one teenage girl dance party

hannah montana soundtrack 4 life

Justina

There's ice cream on my computer

I scream, you scream, we all love computers and ice cream

unfortunately, computers and ice cream don't love each other.

But alas, here is a way you can mix the two, plus practicality, pinkness, and style.

win (ice cream) win (computers) win win win (those other three things)

Zero Gravity makes these gorgeous computer cases that are not only really well made,
but that could passably double as an oversized clutch in a pinch.

With school starting in less than half a  cosmic second (sorry, I had to remind you), it's time to get real about back-to-school accessories.

Basically, a good computer case will save you a lot of heart stopping
oh-my-god-I-just-slammed-my-backpack-down-my-laptop-is-in-there-is-it-dead-forever
moments

and so, because I know that we could all use less of those moments,
I am pairing up with the lovely Zero Gravity to give one reader the same case as you see my MacBook modelling above!

Here's the deal:

1. Follow me via GFC + Bloglovin'
 @ShopZeroGravity on Twitter

2. Comment on this post with your twitter handle

3. Sit on your hands and wait

That's it.

Oh, and this giveaway only runs until 11:59:59 PST Monday night.

So get on that.

Don't want your ice cream to melt.

xx,
Justina
